why this matters

Social Connection Matters

Research shows that loneliness can have a profound negative impacts on physical, mental, and cognitive health. Traditionaly, the focus of healthcare has been on physical and mental health. Yet, the World Health Organisation defines health as state of complete physical, mental and social well-being – social health is not optional.

Most pharmacists have never received formal education on loneliness and social connection, or how to cultivate meaningful relationships in their own lives while also supporting patients to understand the importance of social connection and strengthen it in theirs. This retreat has been designed to change that.
